IAEA-S-2 aims at calibrations on the VCDT scale for δ34S.
IAEA-S-2 silver sulfide was prepared by B. W. Robinson (Lower Hutt, New Zealand) based on gypsum, from naturally evaporated present day sea water [1, 2].
The δ34S isotopic value of IAEA-S-2 is the result interlaboratory comparisons [1, 2]. The material is often used for δ33S calibrations, but this value is not officially agreed.
